Job Description
Overview:
Shimmick is seeking a higly talented Assistant Construction Labor Superintendent for the Chickamauga Lock & Dam Project in Chattanooga, TN. This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

National Division

Shimmick’s National Division operates throughout the central and eastern U.S. Comprised of legacy companies, such as Morrison Knudsen, Washington Group, and others, this division has decades-long history of delivering successful transportation, transit, mining infrastructure, and water resources projects. In addition to state DOTs and transit agencies, the National Division has delivered more than $5 billion in work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, primarily in the water resources (dams, reservoirs, locks, levees) sector. The National Division is delivering Oklahoma Turnpike Authority’s first build-finance project, the $260 million Gilcrease Expressway project in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Must hold all applicable licenses and/or certificates as required by governmental, regional or project contractual requirements
  • Relies on complete knowledge of procedures, company policies, and business practices to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • At this level, incumbents normally handle a wide range of relatively complex protocols; viewed as fully competent within limits of experience.
  • Responsible for and ensures project safety compliance.
  • Duties may differ depending on the specialty area.
  • Assists the project Superintendent and Project Manger by performing a variety of tasks in support of construction activities.
  • Activities may include inspection of engineering installations for compliance with specifications and quality standards, maintaining project documentation, interfacing withother administrative field staff
  • Must be knowlegable of applicable safety riders for area of responsibility.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • USACE (US Army Corp of Engineers) experience
  • Previous heavy civil construction experience
  • Previous experience as a concrete placing foreman or laborer foreman
