Job Description

Assists the Director of Engineering in the day-to-day operation supporting planning, scheduling, supervision, and administration of all repairs, maintenance and renovation works within the hotel premise. Supports the maintenance schedule of all hotel facilities in an economic and efficient manner ensuring the delivery of high levels of comfort and safety for the guests and staff.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Manages all engineering operations (planned and reactive maintenance) to achieve set objectives, in collaboration with all team members.
  • Ensures that all local building, fire, and authority regulations including relevant standards, codes of practice and insurance requirements are enforced and observed.
  • Inspects hotel rooms, public and heart of the house areas, to ensure areas are always well-maintained and consults all other department heads regarding maintenance problems and offer solutions.
  • Monitors and prepares consumption report on all utilities and takes initiatives to reduce consumption.
  • Develops, motivates, supervises, and coaches departmental employees; and holds daily line up meetings with the team.
  • Understands and accurately follows the standard of service; and implements and ensures the maintenance of the hotel and department regulations, policies and procedures including (but not limited to) House Union Rules and Regulation, Health and Safety, Emergency Response and Standard Operations Procedures.
  • Prepares monthly reports, charts and data and ensures engineering maintenance requests are accurately recorded and report statuses to the Director of Engineering with all tasks actioned to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with the administration of engineering maintenance contracts to ensure contractor’s services meet contract terms and agreements.
  • Assists with the effective management of operating budgets through cost control, inventory, and labour management.

General Requirements:


  • Minimum of five years in operation and maintenance of electric and centrifugal refrigeration equipment, cooling towers, HVAC systems, chiller plant controls, sprinkler / standpipe systems.
  • Have strong experience in engineering operations and a good understanding of building services (including fire life safety systems)
  • Sprinkler / Standpipe
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with the team and management.
  • FDNY S94 Supervising Flame for Compressed Liquid
  • FDNY COQ Refrigeration Engineer certificate
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or related major experience. A plus if you have the below certifications.
    • FDNY COQ Refrigeration Engineer certificate

    • S12 City Wide Sprinklers Systems
    • S13 City Wide Standpipe Systems
    • S14 Standpipe for Multi-Zone System
