About the Position

Our Creative Content strategy is to create and source compelling, brand-elevating content and communications programs with a high return-on-investment that inspires customers to shop with Lilly Pulitzer and enhances their perception of the brand. The Creative Content team works to elevate the brand, create & design visually compelling creative campaigns that engage our customer and communicate product.


The Art Director is responsible for managing the look and feel of consumer facing product photography, this includes on model and still life. The Art Director also supports the Senior Manager of Creative Services in concepting for on location and studio campaign shoots. This role is expected to execute aspirational and compelling photography that supports overall company goals, inspires our consumer to engage and purchase. This person is responsible for developing concepts into creative solutions while ensuring objectives are met across key brand channels. The Art Director works in lockstep with the producer to concept, cast, plan, and execute shoots. All work will be done in alignment with the Creative Content Strategy and brand framework. It is expected that this role will gain an understanding of business performance to make informed decisions in their strategy and execution.


A day in the life of what’s expected of an Art Director:

  • Keep the brand aspirational, elevated, and chic in everything they do. They are a forward-thinking powerhouse and highly skilled creative that supports the Senior Manager of Creative Services and Content Development in concepting, planning, and executing brand elevating creative assets.
  • Continue to build upon their knowledge of what drives the business and engages the consumer. The Art Director understands how their work impacts sales. They seek out and understand what works and what does not, this means asking questions and gaining knowledge of the WHY behind the wins and losses. Collaboration with both strategy and channel leads to understanding channel best practices to deliver creative assets that meets our business goals and satisfies our brand approach from top to bottom
  • Have a heads-up approach, contributing to the success and evolution of our systems and tools. Continuing to improve current systems and processes as well as creating new systems/processes to support the business as it evolves and the needs of the team as we grow. Stays current with evolving technology and photography landscape


Areas of Art Direction support include (but not limited to):

  • Support overflow of brand creative or digital creative as needed.
  • Art direct E-commerce model and still life shoots.
  • Set an example of creative excellence that inspires and guides a team of creatives to always reach for the highest brand standards
  • Leading and participating in brainstorming sessions
  • Translate brand and seasonal direction for e-commerce photography
  • Creative Concepting for both studio and on location shoots
  • Expert knowledge of the photography lifestyle: concepting, execution, retouching and color grading, as well as asset management & file handling.
  • Partner closely with other disciplines within the Creative team

What You Bring To The Table

  • Creative vision as well as fine attention to detail in project management.
  • Elevated + aspirational design skills + vision.
  • Experience managing direct reports, third-party partners, agencies, and freelancers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or related field preferred, not required.
  • Insight for the ever-changing channels of consumer communication, especially the power of excellent photography and digital experiences.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • An understanding of the Lilly Pulitzer brand positioning and consumer profile.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to maintain a strict calendar of deadlines and ensure others do the same.
  • Understanding of the apparel market and a vision for business-driving tactics.
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills
  • Generally, 5+ years of design experience, preferably in the fashion industry.
  • Communications is a fast-paced, versatile field that requires some specific skills:
  • Strong collaboration skills – able to communicate ideas effectively.
  • Understanding of the process that takes the vision of fashion design, and consumer/market insights, and pushes it from concept to execution - storyboard - casting - styling – photography.
  • Must have knowledge of both MAC & PC and programs.
  • Exceptionally skilled at image curation and visual storytelling

  • This position will be hybrid based out of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia.
  • The position requires some domestic travel.
  • This position is classified as full-time salaried; it is exempt and is not eligible for overtime. This position is eligible for standard company fringe benefits.
  • This position is reviewed annually.
  • Given the seasonality of the business, this position may require flexible, additional working hours during peak periods.
