The CLIMAX Area Sales Manager has the fabulous opportunity to sell the best portable machine tools in the world. We serve excellent customers around the world in power generation, oil & gas, ship building & repair, aviation and more. This role is home-based and reports to the Director of North American Sales. The area of responsibility is the East Coast, from Maine to Georgia. Preferred candidate locations are Charlotte, NC, Charleston, SC and Newport News, VA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Enter and maintain up-to-date customer data and detailed customer information into the customer relationship management software; Assist with compiling credit information and making credit collections
- Coordinate and share knowledge and information with other inside/outside sales associates for the benefit of the customer and company
- Use sound judgment and business acumen to develop territory plan and activity and forecast reports
- Conducts in-house and/or on-site technical presentations and/or product demonstrations as needed to support customer requirements. Assists in trade show exhibitions. Maintains complete technical knowledge of company, products, capabilities and possible solutions. Attends required sales training courses and applies learning. Fully understands, follows and uses company policies and procedures; i.e., quotations, return authorizations, pricing/payment terms, credit, leasing and warranty decisions
- Other duties as required
- Take charge of the full sales cycle with a focus on getting to the top people in each account and building strong customer relationships
- Sell the full range of CLIMAX products
- Own the entire account acquisition process which includes forecasting, call planning, cold calling, managing the sales funnel, pro-active pipeline management and accurate pipeline staging, proposal generation, contract negotiation, credit approval, sales data management, and exceeding monthly revenue objectives.
- Provide comprehensive and timely territory/pipeline activity reports, new prospect lists, sales forecasts and action plans that show progress towards required sales targets
REQUIREMENTS
The following are required:
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales goals and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passionate, creative, innovative “can-do” attitude
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; 5-10 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Track record of excellent customer service
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Self-motivated and willing to work independently with limited direction on complex issues
These are Preferred:
- Working knowledge of Salesforce.com
- Mechanical, machining and engineering aptitude with ability and credibility to work effectively with Engineering and other technical departments
- Sales experience in the Power Generation Industry focused on Fortune 500 type companies
- Prior experience with capital equipment sales
