Job Description

CURRENTLY HIRING APPRENTICE SERVICE TECHNICIANS! $22.00 PER HOUR WITH NO EXPERIENCE.

PAID WEEKLY WITH TIME AND A HALF OVERTIME.

Preferred applicant is mechanically inclined and has worked in irrigation, lawn services, plumbing or electrical fields. Enjoys working outside. Valid Drivers License with clean driving record is required.

An Apprentice Service Technician is an introductory position into the irrigation business. A Service Technician Apprentice will receive training on inspecting and servicing residential irrigation systems. An apprentice will work with a qualified trainer to learn how to diagnose and repair irrigation systems, communicate with individual property owners, and track materials used. At the end of the apprenticeship, a technician will be able to start up and winterize all systems and preform simple diagnosis services and repairs.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learns to install and repair irrigation valves (manifold repairs/ replacements).
  • Preform system start ups and winterizations unassisted.
  • Proactively assist in resolving issues with customers to ensure full satisfaction.
  • Learn and certify on system start up and winterization.
  • Maintaining assigned truck, supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Learn how to Install, program and repair timers, clocks, and controls for sprinklers, including wireless (wifi controllers).
  • Shadow a Jr/Sr technician on all aspects of job, including reviewing daily jobs, sorting and stocking service vehicles, driving to and from locations, diagnosing and servicing irrigation systems, maintaining inventory and communication with office, management and customers.
  • Learn basic lay out of Millard Sprinkler irrigation systems vs non Millard Sprinkler systems.
  • Learn to install and repair all system parts including but not limited to, nozzles, heads, and joints.
  • Study and certify on Hunter Irrigation Products, including clocks, parts and system lay out.
  • Strong focus on proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and supplies and workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Learn to Solder.

Qualifications: Preferred applicant is mechanically inclined or has worked in Irrigation, lawn services, plumbing or electrical fields. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Education: HS Diploma or Equivalent.

Working Environment/Safety Requirements:

This job requires outdoor work for 8 or more hours a day in various environments including but not limited to, freezing temperatures, 100+ degree temperatures, rain, sleet and snow. Daily working conditions include mud, dirt, sand and water. Applicant must be able to lift, push, pull 50lbs for moderate durations of time. Job includes use of power tools and possible use of heavy machinery. Weekends required.
