Job Description

The Board of Assessors is seeking an Appraiser I for their commercial property division. Do you have an Associate Degree or two (2) years of relevant experience? Apply today.
Job Summary: In this position, you will appraise residential and/or commercial property for assessment purposes, conduct field reviews, locate assets and property for appraisals, and gather and record data affecting values. Your skill in drawing accurate diagrams of buildings and property is necessary. You will make calculations, apply data to appraisals, and prepare detailed records for calculating appraised values. You will also apply and interpret state and local property assessments and appraisal laws. You will appraise the fair market value of taxable and non-taxable property. You must have effective oral and written communication skills as you will defend values before the Board of Equalization, research and gather data for Superior Court cases, and testify as needed. You will need to utilize a computer to perform data entry, research, and other clerical duties. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate Degree in Real Estate, Construction, Business, Accounting, or a related field, or two (2) years equivalent job experience and training in real property evaluation, appraisal, assessment, or a closely related field. You must be able to lift and move at least twenty (20) pounds. You must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. You must have completed the qualifications of the Appraiser I exam or have the ability to complete the qualifications of the Appraiser I exam within a specified timeframe. The ability to utilize handheld terminals is desirable.
