CK Science is seeking a research scientist, analytical chemist to join our client's technical team, based in Florida on a permanent basis.
Our client is an exciting early-stage start-up company founded by a successful serial entrepreneur, developing processes for the production of various chemicals. This position is intended to support the design, construction, operation, and analysis of experiments and equipment in the laboratory, both bench-top and large-scale. This is an opportunity to join our talented and dedicated team in a start-up environment with the ability to impact the success of the company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for taking commercial packaged microwave units and applying them to our reactor technology.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary R&D team to achieve common goals.
- Support the design, construction, and operation of novel plasma reactor systems.
- Support all laboratory activities on plasma reactor systems, including scaling up of existing systems, on-going development, and collection and analysis of data.
- Develop SOPs for all plasma reactor systems.
- Support continuous development of all aspects of plasma reactor systems.
- Contribute to the patent portfolio of the company.
- Contribute to the development of next generation R&D projects and technologies.
- Write technical reports and proposals.
- Travel occasionally (less than 10%) to customer or vendor sites and meeting.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- B.S. or M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Scientific or Engineering discipline with 3+ years of directly relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience working with plasma reactor systems or sub-atmospheric plasma systems.
- Proven track record of designing and operating custom laboratory apparatus, including complex, automated systems.
- Proven track record of creativity and independent problem solving.
- Must have excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work with other functional organizations to drive successful research project results.
- Strong proven analytical skills and ability to communicate relevant data to peers and other management to ensure appropriate plant execution outcomes.
- Ability to work independently and is self-motivated.
- Willingness to take initiative and follow-through, with good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Compensation:
- Salary of $85-100,000 per annum.
