Compensation: $58,960 to $67,000.

About the position:


We are seeking an Analyst of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join our Finance team.


The focus of FP&A is to (1) provide support for strategic planning, annual budget and forecast processes, (2) analyze and report our financial results internally and to our Board of Directors, and (3) partner with the organization’s budget holders worldwide to assist in the achievement of organizational goals.


This role will be responsible for providing financial support for critical areas and time-bound processes such as the annual budget, periodic forecasts, grant proposal review, and the month-end close cycle. Assists in the preparation of various financial activities including data gathering, trending, modeling, forecasting, planning, and reporting.


Collects information from various areas across the organization to assist in the building of models to provide insight to underlying business dynamics. Further assignments will include various organization-wide initiatives.


The Analyst of Financial Planning & Analysis will perform his/her duties under the guidance and instruction of the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.


Key Outcomes:


In the first 90 days :


  • Grasp the requirements of mont h ly reporting and the responsibilities associated with the month end cycle.
  • Familiarize yourself with both our recently implemented financial system and our FP&A module.
  • Comprehend the intricacies of our department dynamics and it s interconnectedness with the organization.


In the first 6 months :


  • Achieve a high level of expertise as a subject matter specialist in both our recently implemented financial system and our FP&A module.
  • Track and analyze the monthly actual reports for assigned departments and large multi-department organizational projects to identify issues and opportunities versus budget and to assist in preparation o f any needed adjustment entries.
  • Assist in monthly spread of budget worksheets and upload into system on the new finance system.
  • Perform analytics of restricted time allocation and associated entries.
  • Grasp the requirements of monthly reporting and the responsibilities associated with the month-end cycle.


In the first year :


  • Assist in monthly spread of budget worksheets and upload into system on the new finance system.
  • Assist in the management of the Annual Budget process .
  • Grasp the requirements and responsibilities associated with the month-end cycle reporting.
  • Achieve a high level of expertise as a subject matter specialist in both our recently implemented financial system and our FP&A module.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Assist in the management of the Annual Budget process, including:


  • Assist in monthly spread of budget worksheets and upload into system .
  • Work with budget holders to facilitate their completion of submissions ;
  • Assist in the analysis and production of the budget package for management review ;
  • Prepare budget worksheets with comparative prior year information ;


Month-end close cycle responsibilities, including:


  • Assist in analysis for our annual financial audit, as needed ;
  • Assist in review of Federal grant budget proposals and final budgets for system upload ;
  • Assist in the completion of other finance tasks, as assigned .
  • Track and analyze the monthly actual reports for assigned departments and large multi-department organizational projects to identify issues and opportunities versus budget and to assist in preparation of any needed adjustment entries ;
  • Perform analytics of restricted time allocation and associated entries ;


We’d love to hear from you if…


  • Minimum of 2-3 years budgeting/finance or data analytics experience and FP&A required .
  • Non-profit finance experience preferred.
  • You have language skills in at least one of our core languages, other than English: Spanish, Tagalog, Hindi, Kiswahili, Haitian Creole (this would be a plus, but is not a requirement) .
  • Strong business acumen and cross-functional team experience
  • You have US work authorization (required) .
  • Strong PowerPoint skills, p roficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook required .
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance , Accounting or Data Analytics .
  • Proven Ability to work Independently and consistently provide error-free results
  • Superior Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to manage, analyze and communicate insights from large data sets .
  • Experience with large financial software system required ; budget software preferred .
