Responsibilities:
  • Participates in the Safety Management System.
  • Maintains aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other regulations (ICAO);
  • Maintains records for aircraft in accordance with regulations and Aviation Department policies;
Duties:
  • Maintains FAA and aircraft records and logbooks at the highest standard in accordance with regulatory and company requirements;
  • Attends type specific training as required at a manufacturer-approved school;
  • Coordinates with scheduling, pilots, and department management, as well as outside vendors and FAA representatives, as needed
  • Ensures compliance with Airworthiness Directives;
  • Performs maintenance, repairs, and minor overhauls on Duke Energy aircraft;
  • Plans, manages, and controls the maintenance of aircraft within the bounds of FAA, Duke Energy, and Aviation Department policy;
  • Conducts periodic inspection of aircraft, including daily pre- and post flight service, to determine mechanical condition in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations;
  • Assists with aircraft towing and fueling;
  • Accompanies aircraft when it is at a service center for inspection, repair, or modifications;
Basic/Required Qualifications
Aircraft Mechanic
  • Holds a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • High School/GED and minimum three (3) years relevant work experience
Senior Aircraft Mechanic
  • Holds a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • High School/GED and minimum five (5) years relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 plus years work related experience
  • Proficient in computer software programs applicable to aircraft maintenance.
  • Possess the communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of company personnel.
  • Detailed knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and procedures
  • Associates degree
  • Fork lift current qualifications
  • Familiarity with FAA and NTSB Documenting and reporting criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems including electrical, hydraulic and avionics and engines
Working Conditions
  • Duty may include any time of day or night as required.
  • Required to work weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Office duty when not performing maintenance technician duties.
  • Travel involving extensive periods of time away from home including international destinations.
  • May be required to be on standby status if not on official vacation.
  • Fork lift and other lift and ground support equipment operations.
  • Pre-flight, post-flight and aircraft servicing is accomplished outside in all weather conditions and extreme noise levels associated with airport operations.
Onsite Mobility Classification: Each employee at Duke Energy is assigned an Employee Mobility Classification based on the Company’s assessment of his/her role, including primary job duties and the nature of the work performed. Your Mobility Classification is Onsite. In these roles, the vast majority of work must be performed at a Company facility. Employees in these roles normally require an assigned workspace, routinely use collaboration space, require access to Company assets and tools that are only available onsite, and/or require a high degree of in-person, face-to-face team interaction and collaboration. Onsite employees are also required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
