A-EMT OR ED TECH – EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development and the care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
 Promotes customer service initiatives.
 Responds to call lights, requests from patient/family.
 Stocks supplies and linens and maintains clean working environment.
 Cleans patient stretchers and straightens patient’s rooms.
 Assists licensed staff with patient care.
 Answers telephones and public inquiries appropriately.
 Processes written orders appropriately.
 Conveys STAT orders to appropriate personnel immediately.
 Enters patient charges for items not charged in PYXIS
 Performs EKGs and phlebotomy
 Transports patients
 Assists with suturing and procedures.
 Maintain par level on supplies.
 Communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors, and other members of the heathcare team
 IV insertion
 Assist with pelvic exams
 All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Current A-EMT licensure (A-EMT) or Current Paramedic licensure (Paramedic)
 Current BLS certification (or obtain prior to the completion of orientation)
 CPI De-escalation training certification (obtain within 6 months)
 Basic computer skills
