AECOM Construction Management has an opportunity for a Vice President of Pre-Construction/Estimating to support the Mid-Atlantic regional office with ongoing and future construction projects.
Summary:
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
- Lead and develop preconstruction/estimating teams for all AECOM CM Mid-Atlantic efforts, including hiring and overseeing all such personnel in those efforts.
- This individual will be responsible for developing a culture within the group as he/she manages and grows the Preconstruction/Estimating Department.
- Evaluate/develop estimating standards for the Mid-Atlantic estimating group.
- Represent AECOM CM as the Mid-Atlantic leader of preconstruction/estimating efforts in meetings, presentations, correspondence, etc. as needed.
- Lead responsibility is to work cooperatively with existing clients, prospective clients, design disciplines, subcontractors, vendors, and AECOM team members to prepare detailed construction cost estimates and/or owner budgets/bids as applicable for AECOM CM projects.
- Evaluate major change order proposals and subcontractor pricing as necessary for certain projects as reasonably required.
- Develop and maintain a thorough construction cost history for various market sectors.
- Evaluate and determine the best software programs to be utilized by the Mid-Atlantic preconstruction/estimating group.
- Work with project teams as strategies for MBE/WBE and other DEI strategies as part of the preconstruction/estimating processes.
- Assist other AECOM CM preconstruction/estimating efforts as reasonably requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS Construction Management, Engineering, Business or relevant curriculum and extensive experience in all phases of commercial preconstruction, from estimating and design development through evaluation of construction alternatives, conceptual estimating, management, and value engineering; including a minimum of 6 years of leadership or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Requirements:
- Extensive estimating experience.
- Experience working with owners, design professionals and subcontractor/vendors.
- Ability to conceptualize construction projects from start to finish and deliver presentations in support of positive construction outlooks.
- Ability to work independently and provide highly successful results.
- Strong analytical skills.
- 15 years of extensive experience in all phases of commercial preconstruction/estimating/bidding from estimating and design development through evaluation of construction alternatives, conceptual estimating, management and value engineering.
- Prior experience working on complex projects; developing and implementing innovative methodologies and processes relevant to construction projects.
- Experience streamlining negotiations.
- Prior experience in pre-construction/estimating large commercial construction projects.
