We are currently looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer position within UOP.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to visit customer refineries, chemical plants, or fabrication shops for the purpose of assessing the mechanical integrity of the process equipment and verifying conformance to Honeywell UOP, customer, and code specifications.
This position has many physical inspection requirements such as: climbing up, crawling through, and walking on pressure vessels, storage tanks and piping either at the process plants or in the fabrication shops. During plant turnarounds inspectors assess equipment condition, issue repair recommendations, verify suitability of repair completion, and forecast future repairs or replacement of equipment. Shop inspections of equipment occur during all stages of fabrication to ensure compliance to UOP standard specifications, customer requirements, engineering specifications and all applicable industry codes. Each inspector writes their own reports using UOP’s computer generated forms on a supplied laptop computer, and effectively presents the results to the customer at meetings on a frequent basis.
This position requires extensive travel to locations throughout the world. Assignments generally last from 1-6 weeks, with no return home typically available during that time. Work hours during an assignment are generally six days per week, 10 hours per day, but can be 12-hour days, seven days a week if customer’s schedule/timeline requires it. Night shifts and holiday coverage are also a possibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Traveling for the duration of an assignment
- Verifying equipment condition, issuing repair recommendations, and verifying repair completion
- Effectively creating and delivering results’ presentations to customers during meeting
- Following required safety procedure
- Writing detailed computer-generated report
- Equipment inspections during all phases of fabrication in the fabrication shop to ensure compliance with UOP Standard Specifications, customer requirements, engineering specifications and applicable industry code
- Attend quarterly Honeywell – UOP group meetings to discuss safety/HSE and technical topics, and associated findings from inspection activities
- Continuous LMS technology and HSE/safety training
- Forecasting future repair and replacement schedules/timelines of equipmen
- API, AWS, or other qualifications/certifications up to date on a 3-year basis
- Completing detailed inspections of pressure vessels, storage tanks, and piping at customer processing plants or fabrication shops
YOU MUST HAVE:
- The ability to travel extensively (100% travel role)
- 5+ years of experience with refinery or chemical plant inspection, maintenance turnaround or plant shutdown
- Either a Mechanical Engineering degree or an API-510 Pressure Vessel Inspector certification

- Ability to interact with customers on a global basis
- A basic understanding of our culture, how we handle customers (both internal and external), our reporting systems, and the importance of correct and timely expense and time reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong customer focus, and the ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work in a physically challenging and team environments
- Knowledge of and/or experience with UOP Technologies
- Flexibility to work hours that are dictated by customer requirements and assignment scope
- Knowledge of and compliance with of our safety culture and training requirements
- Proficiency in written and verbal English
- Willingness to travel internationally and domestically, and to reside onsite for long uninterrupted periods of time
