Job Description

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), School of Nursing (SON) is currently recruiting for an Admissions Counselor to support the Office of Student and Academic Services. This position may require travel.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain daily tracking for prospective students and applicants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Recruit students to attend the University by creating awareness about the University, its programs, and scholarship opportunities among students, counselors, and alumni. Participates and represents the school at national, regional, and local recruiting events.
  • Participates in open houses for prospective students, onsite school/hospital visits, and other recruitment events.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement of recruitment strategies and changes to policies or procedures.
  • Facilitates and conducts interviews with prospective students.
  • Provides comprehensive analysis of information and credentials submitted by applicants. Screens, verifies, and evaluates data on admissions applications and transcript materials maintaining all files and record systems.
  • Guide prospective students through recruitment and pre-admissions advisement by instructing them in the application process and informing them of deadlines.
  • Prepare reports concerning admission statistic and any research conducted in the area of enrollment development.
  • Represents University and school in recruiting students and in presenting to a wide variety of internal and external constituents.
Qualifications


Education
: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience: One (1) year of professional experience in admissions, student enrollment, or a related field.

Other: Related experience may be substituted for education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Ability to demonstrate, understand, apply, and adhere to the UMB Core Values.

Salary Range: 48,500 - $52,000; commensurate with education and experience.
