We are seeking an Administrative Assistant II to join our Mammography/Diagnostic Imaging department. This position is Full-Time, scheduled 40 hours per week and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. Mid Columbia Medical Center is located in The Dalles, Oregon. We work, live, and play in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. Under general supervision, provides a wide variety of routine and non-routine administrative and staff support functions for the Mammography and Diagnostic Imaging department. May register and assist patients with their appointments. May aide in budget preparation and control activities. May compile and analyze data, prepare reports/recommendations for action by supervisor. Administers programs, projects and/or processes specific to the operating unit served. May serve as administrative liaison with others within and outside the organization regarding administrative issues related to purchasing, human resources, facilities and operations.


Education


  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Two years college level coursework preferred.


Licensure/Certification


  • May be required to have CPR/BLS certification depending upon assignment.


Experience


  • Two plus years experience in an administrative support role requiring discretion, judgment and performance of a wide range of secretarial/administrative support functions is required.
  • Hospital or healthcare experience preferred.


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities


  • Demonstrated sixty words per minute keyboarding skill, advanced word processing skills, budget skills and the ability to organize and work independently.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to learn to create presentations (charts, graphs of data, etc) using computer software programs (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Effective positive human relations skills including tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with all levels of staff and leadership.
  • Ability to compose specialized or sensitive correspondence and reports; Ability to edit documents for grammar, punctuation, etc.
  • Ability to transcribe reports, forms, and correspondence, including the use of technical and medical terminology, from longhand or dictation.

Under general supervision, performs general and routine clerical functions in a medical clinic or clinical department in the hospital. Assists with administrative paperwork as delegated by clinical staff. May perform such duties as greeting, directing or escorting patients/customers, answering and handling telephone calls, scheduling appointments, data entry and working closely with internal and external contacts. May assist in facilitating work flow in the office/department, filing medical records, processing releases of medical information or data entry. Coordinates communication of nurses, physicians, patients/customers, relatives, visitors, and other departments as appropriate to assigned clinic or department.


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • May require demonstrated 55 words per minute keyboarding skill;
  • May be required to have CPR/BLS certification depending upon assignment.
