Administrative Assistant

What You'll Do

At CORA, our Good Shepherd Mediation's Eviction Diversion unit aims to encourage peace, reconciliation, and social justice by equipping communities with the tools to transform conflict and repair harm.

This position will support CORA Good Shepherd Mediation's Eviction Diversion unit. The City of Philadelphia's nationally recognized Eviction Diversion Program (EDP) provides an opportunity for landlords and tenants to resolve disputes without going to court. CORA GSM operates the mediation portion of the EDP.

To participate in EDP, landlords must submit a request on a City portal, outlining the circumstances of their intention to evict, along with tenant contact information and certain documentation to facilitate the diversion process.

The major responsibility of the EDP Assistant will be to review landlord requests for diversion, and to respond to landlords whose applications are rejected (usually for missing information).

Specific Responsibilities

  • If Denied, include an appropriate message/explanation
  • Access landlord requests for diversion on the City's EDP Portal
  • Answer questions from landlords by phone and email to assist in getting their applications approved
  • Mark each application as "Approved" or "Denied"
  • Answer questions from landlords and tenants about EDP and mediation
  • Assist with other tasks as needed
  • Carefully review each application to ensure that the necessary components are included

The EDP Assistant will have the opportunity to observe mediations and to participate in mediation trainings offered by CORA GSM.

Good Shepherd Mediation Administrative Assistant Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.

Qualified Candidates Should Possess

  • Some knowledge of mediation and/or landlord-tenant issues in Philadelphia a plus, but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and conversational skills
  • Some experience with data entry and recordkeeping
  • Ability to quickly and easily adapt to new software and technology (e.g., Quickbase)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Bookings),
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail

Please note: All new hires are expected to be fully vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to starting work with CORA Services.
