BM Technologies, Inc. (“BMTX” or the “Company”) is seeking a fully remote Accounts Payable Specialist to support the Corporate Controller in executing our P2P activities, including invoice processing, payment processing, and account reconciliation. In this role, you will partner with stakeholders both within Finance and across the Company in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate possesses sound knowledge of best practices in accounts payable and 2+ years of relevant ‘experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring timely and accurate sales tax processing and payment and 1099 classification and reporting.
- · Verifying vendor accounts, paying vendors, and resolving purchase order, invoice, or payment discrepancies.
- Assisting in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of effective internal controls over financial reporting and other business process improvements.
- Support month end accrual process by ensuring that the unprocessed invoices are appropriately accounted for
- Support the NetSuite implementation related to procure to pay process
- Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant data and support to ensure timely and accurate recording and payment.
- Assisting in the identification, analysis, and implementation of expense saving opportunities in the Company.
- Timely and accurate processing and payment of vendor invoices, check requests, recurring payments, as well as employee expense reimbursements.
- Supporting Management in maintaining, updating, and utilizing the Company’s accounts payable systems and workflows.
- Performing other duties as required to support the Accounting and Finance Department.
- Ensuring that all payments are properly coded to the general ledger, properly authorized for payment in accordance with the Company’s approval matrix, and properly supported with sufficient documentation.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of fixed asset and depreciation procedures.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an accounts payable specialist, or similar.
- Effective team player with ability to work independently and demonstrated success in getting things done.
- Comprehensive knowledge of sales and use tax rules and requirements related to vendor invoices/payments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC reporting requirements.
- Experience with ERP system implementation/enhancements preferred.
- Impeccable attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline intensive environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Desire to challenge existing practices and drive continuous process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information.
- Knowledge of and experience using accounts payable and expense reimbursement systems and workflows and the integration with other accounting systems with preference for NetSuite and SAP Concur.
- Extensive experience in account reconciliation.
- Flexibility and ability to work overtime as business needs and reporting deadlines require.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant accounts payable principles, accounting standards, and internal control over financial reporting.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field of study.
- Knowledge of prepaid expense management and amortization.
- Maintains a consistently positive and professional demeanor and communicates effectively with both financial and non-financial professionals.
