Reports To (Supervisor Title): VP, Accounting Strategy and Operations
Direct Reports Job Title(s): Accounts Payable Lead, Senior Accounts Payable Analyst
Number of Direct Reports: 3-5
Job Summary/Objective:
The Accounts Payable Manager leads all activities in the Accounts Payable (AP) function including leading the AP team. Maintains positive relationships with both internal and external customers and ensures compliance with internal company policies and procedures and external regulatory agencies. Leads and develops the team by communicating clear expectations and goals. Responsible for continual and sustainable process improvement through root cause analysis, ongoing training, and the administration of lean principles. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, detail-oriented person to drive efficiencies within processes and systems and ensure achievement of departmental strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with vendors and internal customers to resolve invoicing and payment issues.
- Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and ensures internal control compliance across the accounts payable function.
- Develop annual departmental budgets.
- Recommend and deliver solutions to address emerging challenges and opportunities by effective use of research and data analysis.
- Oversight of timely invoice processing and payment for all Southwire locations, coordinates the preparation and filing of 1099 and other fiscal reporting requirements in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy.
- Set department policies, monitors Key Performance Indicators including the preparation of monthly portfolio analysis and supplier payment metrics, setting standards for the achievement of objectives
- Direct high performing team by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, ensuring adequate coverage, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, developing, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, procedures and productivity standards.
- Assist, guide, and instruct support staff on non-routine policy interpretations or transaction problems which require resolution.
- Reconcile a variety of accounts and reports for ensuring accuracy, conducts audits of AP and review of work processes. Provides support for both internal and external audit.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Must have 5 + years of accounting and/ finance experience.
- Strong reconciliation, organization, and time management skills
- Must have 5+ years’ experience in a high-volume financial shared services environment;
- Experience with leading IRS /1099 payment and reporting
- Must have experience in Concur
- Requires Bachelor in Accounting, Finance, or related business degree
- Must have 2+ years of leadership experience
- Must have experience in SAP or an ERP system.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite including, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Strong knowledge of the Procure to Pay process
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven business acumen, exceptional interpersonal capabilities and possess an attention to detail.
- Certificates: Concur Expense, 1099 Administration
- Travel: Up to 25%
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize and problem solve
