This is an in-person opportunity in our Birmingham, AL office in the 5 Points area.


We are looking for a Accountant with experience in Payroll and Human Resources to help support our company's accounting team which processes over 100+ deals every month as well as our corporate overhead function. You’ll be responsible for daily accounting tasks, including reviewing closing statements, construction expenses, employee payroll and general overhead expenses for proper entry into our our accounting system. You will perform and review financial transactions and post them in the general ledger, with strong attention to detail. We're looking for someone with a command of the basics who is ready to move up in their career.


Responsibilities


  • Report to the Controller and work to improve financial processes
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files for all three of our business lines - investment, title & brokerage
  • Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
  • Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Enter and manage our 8 monthly payrolls
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closures
  • Track 3rd party deposits
  • Work with our agents on draw balances


Requirements


  • Similar experience as an Accountant or relevant role in accounting
  • Attention to detail
  • Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) & Google Docs (Sheets, Docs); very good with spreadsheets
  • Good math skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting software, Oracle Netsuite preferred
  • Confidentiality and integrity
