About Us
The Maricopa County Attorney's Office is one of the largest public prosecutorial agencies in the nation, serving nearly four million residents in the fourth largest county in the U.S. In addition to handling all felony prosecutions in Maricopa County and misdemeanor filings in the county’s justice court system, the office also provides civil legal services to all county agencies.
The department is comprised of more than 1000 full-time employees, including attorneys, investigators, paralegals, victim advocates, and support staff, and has an annual operating budget of around $115,000,000.

We Require
  • One year of experience in auditing, government finance, grant accounting, or budgeting
  • Equivalent combination of relevant post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field
We Also Value
  • Accounting experience in the public sector or a non-profit
Job Contributions
  • Prepare statistical and financial reports and make recommendations
  • Prepare, initiate and validate journal vouchers
  • Oversee all departmental and fixed assets, including a fleet of around 80 vehicles and maintain asset database and asset files
  • Prepare and post accounting entries and maintain documentation pertaining to assets, payables, receivables, and journal entries
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement job process improvements
  • Prepare internal and external monthly, quarterly, and/or annual financial status reports that include budget to actual, forecasts and reconciled variances
  • Review general ledger and analyzes payroll, accruals, cost allocations, other expenditures, and revenue to verify compliance with grant regulations
  • Coordinate and provide requested documentation for County departments, state auditors, and the media
Working Conditions
  • Ability to drive a personal or County-owned vehicle to travel to and from various County locations
  • High-volume, fast-paced office environment that requires extended periods of sitting
