The Accountant is a member of the Corporate Accounting department, specifically the Financial Reporting team, responsible for assisting in the preparation and distribution of Genuine McCarthy Enterprises, Inc. and Subsidiaries (the “Company”) internal and external financial reports and related schedules. This position reports to the Manager of Financial Reporting.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
  • Serve as the intercompany elimination expert for cross legal entity transactions.
  • Responsible for month-end closing entries including various cost allocations and accruals, general ledger maintenance, joint venture entries, and intercompany eliminations along with the associated account reconciliations.
  • Responding timely to regions regarding requests for proposal information.
  • Conduct Generally Accepted Accounting Principles accounting research as needed.
  • Prepare various schedules and analysis utilized by leadership.
  • Assist in the annual independent audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and coordinating these activities across regions, corporate departments, and the independent auditors.
  • Responsible for the Company’s monthly closing of fixed assets.
  • Work on ad hoc special projects and reports, as needed.
  • Maintaining the Company’s lease population within our lease software to remain compliant with Accounting Standards Codifications Topic 842, Leases.
  • Preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial information, including portions of the work-in-progress schedule.
  • Consolidation and monitoring of the Company’s annual corporate G&A budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for various joint ventures.
Education, experience, and skills required:
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel with a working knowledge of other Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, along with ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management.
  • Experience with Oracle is a plus.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2+ years of experience in accounting.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate within a team and at times, work independently to implement solutions best suited for the Company.
  • Preference given to candidates with a master’s degree in accounting, CPA or in the process of obtaining their CPA, and/or experience in public accounting, construction industry, or financial reporting.
