Job Description
THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position primarily performs professional accounting work related to oversight of the Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Provider Reimbursement and Operations Management Information System (PROMISe) claims processing system. Oversight functions include the post-payment review of claims processed for accuracy of payment, claims processing controls and proper accounting of expenditures, and analysis and preparation of financial reports. This position identifies payment discrepancies using Audit Command Language (ACL) software and related DHS Medical Assistance regulations and bulletins to support the findings. Strong writing skills are required in this position to write audit findings and recommendations using Microsoft Word and Excel for incorporation into the cycle review report. These reviews provide a level of assurance over the accuracy of the payments made to providers, recipients, and vendors and compliance with federal and state regulations. Knowledge of applications such as ACL, DHS’ PROMISe and Client Information System (CIS), and other computer software to extract information necessary in the performance of reviews to identify payment irregularities is preferred but not necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • All correspondence regarding this position will take place via email.
  • Salary: All new employees with the commonwealth will start at the minimum salary & your headquarters is 555 Walnut Street, Harrisburg. You will be required to report to headquarters to pick up your equipment and attend periodic meetings at your expense.
  • Alternate Work Schedule available upon completion of probationary period.
  • Full-time employment.
  • Telework: You may be expected to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. Please keep in mind that while this is a full-time telework position, that can change at any time at the Governor's discretion. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Five years of Bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting; or
  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee; or
  • Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program.
  • One year as a Fiscal Technician, and fifteen college credits in accounting; or
Other Requirements:
