This position will collaborate with faculty who lead CLAS undergraduate academic programs to ensure and plan regular assessment of majors, minors, certificates, and undergraduate program learning outcomes. The Coordinator will also work with the CLAS Core General Education Curriculum Committee (GECC) to conduct assessment of one of more areas of the GE CLAS Core program annually. In addition, this position will engage with and collaborate on undergraduate assessment activities across campus, as well as working with institutional data and with other assessment experts to facilitate college-level and university-level assessment reporting.

The Academic Assessment Coordinator will report to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and will also collaborate closely with the Senior Associate Director for Curriculum and Instruction and the Director of Academic Advising in CLAS UP. This position will also frequently engage with academic staff in the Office of Assessment (Provost’s Office) and the Office of Teaching and Learning Technology’s Center for Teaching, among other relevant groups on the UI campus.

The Coordinator will participate in CLAS staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the CLAS dean and associate dean for undergraduate education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, consistent, and supportive communication to CLAS faculty about assessment guidelines, mutual assessment language/vocabulary, and assessment policies.
  • Help to build a culture of assessment and collaboration in CLAS to support strategic planning and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure undergraduate assessment policies and best practices information is updated and available to all stakeholders.
  • Consult with faculty on devising manageable program assessment strategies that will meaningfully contribute to program decision-making.
