Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in business, management, human resources, organizational development or leadership, or a related field OR a combination of related education and work experience to equal six (6) years.
  • Experience with recruiting, completing pre-hire processes and/or onboarding of employees.
  • Skills in the application of technology for communication, information finding, program delivery and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to change work direction quickly and adapt to last minute changes.
  • Ability to apply creative and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
  • Education and/or experience in financial planning and management.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a subject/discipline relevant to the responsibilities of this position is strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • When not in the assigned office location, employees must be reachable with a mobile number at the employee's own expense.
  • Valid driver's license and own means of transportation with required liability insurance. Occasional travel (in-state) is necessary to perform the responsibilities of this position. Mileage and sustenance reimbursement provided according to University policies.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull 15 lbs routinely and 40 lbs rarely as well as sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including occasional evening or weekend work.
  • Must have reliable internet if/when working outside of assigned office location.
  • Must be able to work regularly at a dedicated/assigned Extension office.

Starting Salary: $24.00-$27.50/hour ($50,000-$57,200/annual); depending on qualifications

ABOUT THIS POSITION

This position will work with five program leaders across the state to coordinate ongoing 4-H interim 4-H associate and 4-H Educator onboarding support. This position will work with program leaders to ensure interim 4-H associates are identified, placed, prepared, and supported. This position will also work with program leaders to locally implement the onboarding system for 4-H Extension educators. 4-H Youth Development Educators provide leadership to the county 4-H program, which includes program leadership, volunteer management, program operations, and marketing/communications. Interim 4-H Program Associates maintain the county 4-H program while a 4-H Educator is on FMLA or the position is open due to a resignation.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, manage and coordinate systems and processes for interim 4-H Extension educator staffing – 60%

  • Identify individuals in each region who may be interested in interim roles.
  • Recruit and manage a pool of applicants to draw from for interim positions.
  • Manage the interim hiring process:
  • Manage the completion of interim payroll paperwork.
  • Communicate hire to internal partners. Arrange for the office to be ready on the first day and add to the appropriate list serves.
  • Make initial contact with potential interim applicant(s) when a local position becomes open.
  • Coordinate interim 4-H program associates onboarding under the direction of program leaders:
  • Serve as a link between the interim leaving and onboarding new staff by ensuring documentation is kept and passed on from interim to new 4-H Extension educator.
  • Onboard Interim 4-H program associates in priority operations (e.g., risk management, financial management, agreements, constitution/by-laws) and systems (e.g., volunteer screening, working with volunteers, interns).
  • Review and update interim onboarding guide based on the season of the program year.
  • Initiate real-time check-ins with interim 4-H program associates on seasonal local, regional and state programs.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of interim onboarding and support programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Initiate check-ins with program leaders to provide interim and program feedback and share staff and program needs.

Partner with youth development leaders to coordinate 4-H Extension educator onboarding – 35%

  • Create and manage systems to track and coordinate onboarding completion and follow up as needed.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of 4-H Extension educator onboarding support and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate 4-H Extension educator participation in campus welcome days.

Provide county-based operations and systems support as needed – 5%

  • In counties that have an opening but no interim is in place, work with the Program Leader to provide minimal operations and systems support. (e.g., seasonal hiring paperwork, fundraisers, complete club financial reviews, gather county charter information, process for ear tags, fair planning meetings)
