Job Title: 2023-2024 High School Social Science Teacher *POOL*

School Overview
Over Drew Charter School’s twenty-year history, the school has grown to serve grades PreK-12 with nearly 1,900 students in a “cradle-to-college” pipeline, including two onsite early learning partners. Drew implements a rigorous and supportive educational continuum, which includes tailored Response to Intervention (RTI) support, a rigorous STEAM/Project-Based Learning (PBL) instructional model, and a robust College and Career Readiness program. Position Description: Classroom teachers are expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This position reports to the Senior Academy (SA) Principal.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of elementary school programs.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
  • Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
  • Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special academic interests.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
  • Assign and grade classwork and homework.
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  • Prepare for assigned classes, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisors.
  • Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, school policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
  • Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required by the administration.
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least a 2.5 GPA required

Certifications
  • Passed the GACE Program Admissions Assessment, GACE Ethics Assessment, and GACE Assessment; OR
  • Have reciprocity eligibility in-field.
  • If uncertified candidate is considered, the expectation is that a Certification plan will be implemented and followed upon hire to obtain certification.
  • Minimum of Level 4 Certification in applicable field;
Compensation
  • Salary Range: $51,048 to $98,830
  • Work Days: 195
