The Role
Boston Common Asset Management (BCAM) is seeking a motivated Investments Summer Associate to join our inclusive and collaborative team. They will report to BCAM's Director of Multi-Asset Solutions during a paid, full-time internship for ten weeks in the summer of 2023. The associate is expected to work on-site in the Boston office.
This internship is perfect for a student interested in investment management but unsure where to begin, as it should serve as a starting point for a potential career in the field. The role will provide exposure to various facets of investment management, including portfolio construction, asset allocation, client relations, business development, and product/service sales.
The associate should expect to leave the internship with a better understanding of their overall interest in the field and the parts of investment management that they find most intriguing. Throughout the summer, they will also have the chance to connect with seasoned investment professionals and team members across all business areas at BCAM, enhancing their collaboration, communication, and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities
The Investments Summer Associate will support Boston Common’s multi-asset solutions (MAS) team in implementing strategic MAS priorities and exploring the competitive landscape. More specifically, their tasks will include:
- Attending meetings related to various aspects of building a multi-asset business offering
- Coordinating internal and external administrative tasks to improve the division's efficiency
- Conducting industry research and comparative analyses to help the MAS team determine strategic market positioning
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a mature, trustworthy student with high energy and an enthusiasm for
expanding their knowledge of investment management. The student should be a rising junior or above and will possess the following qualities and skills:
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems, as well as think about the next steps and implications in a process
- Enthusiasm for and knowledge of financial markets, sustainable investing, and ESG issue areas are a plus
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a straightforward approach
- Completion of tasks in an accurate and timely fashion
- Team player that excels in a collaborative environment but can also work effectively independently
Compensation
Compensation will depend on academic year. In addition to an hourly wage, BCAM also provides:
