The Role
Boston Common Asset Management (BCAM) is seeking a motivated Client Service Summer Associate to join our inclusive and collaborative team. They will report to BCAM's Relationship Manager during a paid, full-time internship for ten weeks in the summer of 2023. The associate is expected to work a hybrid schedule, with three days per week in the Boston office.
The Client Service Summer Associate will be responsible for supporting the Client Service team and other internal stakeholders to provide exceptional service for Boston Common’s clients. By the end of the summer, the associate will understand client reporting and the ins-and-outs of client service work. Throughout the summer, they will also have the chance to connect with team members across all business areas at BCAM, enhancing their collaboration, communication, and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities
The Client Service Summer Associate will support Boston Common’s client service and relationship management team. They will:
- Collaborate with the team to prepare client presentations using internal reporting tools and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Assist with account opening and closing procedures and related electronic data collection.
- Work in Salesforce to complete account maintenance projects.
- Support the team with quarter-end deliverables and other administrative tasks.
- Run data reports and respond to audit confirmation letters.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a mature, trustworthy student with high energy and an enthusiasm for expanding their knowledge of investment management. The student should be a rising junior or above and will possess the following qualities and skills:
- Completion of tasks in an accurate and timely fashion
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a straightforward approach
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- A mature, trustworthy individual with a high level of professionalism and discretion
- Team player that excels in a collaborative environment but can also work effectively independently
- Enthusiasm for and knowledge of financial markets, sustainable investing, and ESG issue areas are a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems, as well as think about the next steps and implications in a process
Compensation
Compensation will depend on academic year. In addition to an hourly wage, BCAM also provides:
