Title: Field Coordinator – Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps, Hopi Office
Starting Salary Range: $750-800 per week, depending on experience
Location: Kykostmovi, AZ and Not Remote Eligible
Status: Full-Time, Non-/Exempt, Seasonal (28 Weeks)

Organizational Summary
Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) is a program of Conservation Legacy (CL). ALCC provides conservation service opportunities for indigenous youth, young adults, and recent -era military veterans in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona and works with other Indigenous communities and conservation corps across the country to provide similar opportunities. Our vision is to lead our Nations back to ecological and cultural well-being and we do this by empowering individuals to positively impact their lives, their communities, and the environment. ALCC’s crews are supported from operational bases in Acoma Pueblo, Albuquerque, Zuni Pueblo, Gallup, and Hopi (Kykotsmovi) and an Individual Placement (IP) Program that operates across the nation.
Conservation Legacy is a nationwide non-profit. The Corps programs within the organization engage participants in diverse conservation and community projects that serve public and private lands. These projects provide opportunities for personal and professional development and strive toward a high priority of needs for public land managers and community partners. Through the mission of engaging future leaders who protect, restore and enhance our nation’s lands through community-based service; Conservation Legacy works toward a world with healthy lands, air and water; thriving people and resilient communities.
Position Summary
The Field Coordinator’s primary role is to provide leadership, logistical and field support to ALCC staff and seasonal conservation crews. The position will require both field and office presence by offering technical assistance, moral support, and ensuring program integrity through policy enforcement and positive mentoring. The Field Coordinator will also assist with Corpsmember interviewing and selection, program logistics, administrative assistance, and training assistance. Field supervisors will support both adult and youth crews.
Outcomes & Functions Of Position
Partnership & Project Support: Develop and maintain partnerships with community and project partners, including developing project specifications, lining out and supporting crews, and maintaining accurate reporting of all necessary information and complete reports throughout the season.
  • Ensure project work is completed to standards and expectations of the partnership and program
  • Assist with a wide variety of in-house training such as leadership, chainsaw operations, historic preservation, trail work, driving, Wilderness First Aid, Leave No Trace, and crew orientations.
  • Actively engage in quality control and risk management through all phases of project planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Serve as a responder to ALCC field emergencies which may include afterhours support
  • Maintain and organize multiple information systems and data bases
  • Work with program staff to identify and develop project expectations and specifications.
  • Maintain staff presence in the field, including frequent overnight stays.
  • Communicate work plans to Crew Leaders, ensuring that they are prepared and knowledgeable of project prior to implementation.
Staff Support & Supervision: Conduct regular visits to crews, project partners, and worksites. Communicate and debrief with crew leaders and corps members during field visits. Manage on-the-ground project quality and quantity by providing technical assistance as needed. Enforce all ALCC and Conservation Legacy policies and procedures. Assist staff based on organizational needs.
  • Work in collaboration with ALCC program staff in all offices to train, mentor, evaluate, supervise and support crew leaders and members
  • Work in collaboration with the Administrative and Logistics teams to ensure all maintenance of systems in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly with Conservation Legacy staff and supervisors
  • Work with staff on other projects as needed, including recruitment efforts and shop tasks
Training and Programming: Be a role model and mentor throughout training and field season. Help to develop and coordinate risk management policies, corps member development, and scheduling.
  • Assist in technical work, protocol and risk management policy enforcement
  • Help develop and implement crew leader and corpsmember trainings
  • Facilitate corpsmember development in the field
  • Assist with coordination of rig-up and de-rig at beginning and end of hitches
Other Duties
  • Leads and/or participates in organizational-wide teams, projects and initiatives that support the work of the strategic plan goals
  • Assist with other general duties as needed or assigned by supervisor
  • Fill in as needed to support crews in field
  • Participate in program promotional activities

Physical Requirements:

Qualifications
  • Must be able to pass the organization’s criminal history check requirements.
