Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, adjusting dosages as needed to achieve therapeutic outcomes while monitoring for potential side effects.

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.

Previous experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or related mental health experience is preferred but not always required.

Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner in psychiatry

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Board Certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification

Current NYS Registered Nurse license

Current NYS Nurse Practitioner license

Conduct monthly follow-up/in person online visits. Perform medication management if necessary.

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Develop and present classes related to psychiatric/behavioral health nursing to enhance the knowledge base of peers and subordinates.

Perform a comprehensive behavioral health nursing assessment and history to plan, provide and direct nursing care across the continuum of care.

Develop and initiate an innovative teaching program for patients requiring special approaches.

Administer many psychotropic and complex medications and make independent judgments in the administration of PRN medication.

Provide routine psychiatric evaluations and medication management as appropriate to Housing Works psychiatric clientele located at 4 sites in Brooklyn.

Provide psychiatric medication management coverage to Housing Works psychiatric clientele if a psych provider is unavailable.

ANCC Board Certification Adult Psychiatric NP

Compensation Range: $70/hr - $77/hr commensurate with experience

Provide psychiatric assessments to determine current diagnoses.

Maintain a panel of patients for follow up psychiatric care.

Organize, assign and supervise duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.

Participate in educational programs specific to Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing to maintain level of expertise.

Maintain knowledge of outpatient resources.

Provide medication education to patients and their families.

Complete patient assessments and triage, as well as record patient histories, symptoms and observations.

Establish and implement nursing care plans for each patient through assessment, development, activation and evaluation.

Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
