Job Summary
This job opening is for a Regular NP position with the Electroconvulsive Therapy Program and Ketamine Infusion Program.

Responsibilities*
History/Physical Exam/Assessment & Diagnosis
Formulates the appropriate psychiatric/medical differential diagnoses based on the history, physical examination, clinical assessment and clinical findings
Identifies psychiatric and medical needs of the individual. Determines the associated needs of the patient's family as a result of the evaluation of the collected data
Treatment Plan
Establishes priorities and plan of care to maximize the health potential with the individual patient. This includes delegated medical functions as designated in clinical privileges. APP is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the completion of treatment plans for the patients on the team.
Routine clinical activities:
Consultations, Inpatient, Outpatient
Placing Medication and Treatment Orders
ECT and Ketamine Infusion workups/evaluation
F/U with referring providers and other health care professionals/patients/families and coordination of care
Providing relevant patient education
Practice Environment
Participates as a team member in the provision of medical and healthcare interacting with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care
Promotes a safe and healthful environment through compliance with regulatory standards and other measures.
Education and Professional Development
Participates in the education of health care professionals and students through mentoring, in services, seminars, and formal presentations
Participates in professional activities that contribute to the advancement of nursing practice, such as participation in professional associations and publication
Develops own clinical knowledge and skills through continuing education programs, course work, and reading professional literature
Participates in own performance evaluation and establishment of plan for self-development and learning.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Nursing Specific Info
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.
Required Qualifications*
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Specialty certification to practice as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
Current DEA registration required
AHA approved BLS
ACLS/PALS certification
Minimum of one year experience working on an ECT unit as a nurse.
NOTE:

Desired Qualifications*
Minimum of one year of Psychiatric nursing experience in a psychiatric setting
Experience as a psychiatric NP in ambulatory psych
Experience as psychiatric NP in medical setting
Experience as psychiatric NP with ECT and/or Ketamine Infusion experience
Experience with Child/Adolescent psychiatry.
Experience with treatment of Catatonia
Experience as a psychiatric NP with Treatment Resistant Depression population and interventions
Experience with medication management in psychotropic prescriptions.
Experience with crisis de-escalation techniques in agitated patients.
Welle or CPI training
Demonstrated excellence as team player with verbal and written communication skills, organization, and problem-solving skills in a busy work environment.
Demonstrated ability to utilize EPIC for accessing information, recording evaluations and progress notes and for ordering appropriate medications and tests.
Demonstrated commitment to carrying out professional responsibilities, adherence to ethical principles, and sensitivity to diversity.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and patient service skills, ability to develop and maintain collaborative practice, leadership, and ability to work with minimal supervision and autonomy.
Work Schedule
Variable shift flexibility to cover some weekend Days: Full time ? 5 days/week
Shift: Variable depending on needs of patient care

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
