Any combination of two years of post-high school experience and/or education in the natural sciences OR

Processes, prepares, labels, documents, packs, and coordinates delivery of prescriptions to customersincluding point of sale

Assists with customer service needs, including answering telephones, processing prescriptions per patient or provider request, delivery coordination, and other pharmacy programs

Compounds non-sterile medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist

Performs activities related to pharmacy technician scope of practice.

MEDICATION SAFETY - TECH: Utilizes processes and techniques to promote medication safety.

MEDICATION DISPENSING: Follows defined policies and procedures when dispensing medications.

Assist in inventory management processes including order review, inventory returns, restocking shelves, and physical inventory preparation.

Enter prescription information including but not limited to: patient searches, prescriber searches, drug selection, prescription interpretation, insurance billing, and basic documentation.

Accept customer and prescription information required to process new and refill prescriptions, including refill authorization from doctor offices.

Create prescription labels and put them on prescription containers.

Place medication into prescription containers.

Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and input customer and prescription data into the computer.

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.

Experience working in healthcare with one-on-one patient interaction

Under pharmacist supervision prepares patient specific and batch sterile products including hazardous medications.

Completes the Registered Pharmacy Technician Training Program within 6 months of hire date.

Performs clerical and technical functions for the pharmacist.

Types labels or makes entries into the computer system, including prescription information.

Fills medication orders for pharmacist verification.

Performs cashier function including end of the day processing and bank deposits.

Participate in patient drug assistance program processing

You’ll be trained to pack medication according to company procedures, which abide with medication safety requirements

You have a good working knowledge of pharmacy practice

You have excellent interpersonal communication skills

You’re an effective team player with very good interpersonal relationship skills

You’ll be trained for the staging and compounding of products

You’ll be trained to ensure proper inventory while compounding records and patient charts

Assumes responsibility for participating in experiences necessary to ensure appropriate skill development and training.

Maintains and displays appropriate knowledge of developments in the field through continuing education, reviewing pertinent literature and/or by attending professional meetings.

Attends and participates in hospital and other management training and development workshops.

Must have/maintain national technician certification through PTCB or exCPT

Experience: None required; 6 months - 1 year experience preferred.
