Occupational Therapy Assist Jobs

A PhD, a Post-professional OTD, or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).

Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

For international transcripts, a United States Equivalency certification will be required.

Promote professionalism by modeling and encouraging professional behaviors inside and outside the educational setting.

Associate's/Technical Degree in occupational therapy or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Two years' rehabilitative services experience or equivalent education: Preferred

High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred

One year's occupational therapy experience: Preferred

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required

Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA): Required

OR 2 to 3 years experience as a Certified Home Health Aide preferred.

Activities of Daily Living (ADL)

Transferring patients from beds into wheelchairs

Escorting patients to and from therapy

Assisting with ambulation training on level surfaces and stairs

Advanced experience with computer software programs and clinical documentation in Hospital based practice.

One (1) year of hospital based acute care practice.

Ability to communicate effectively utilizing computer verbally and in writing in English.

Ability to perform basic functions of Microsoft Office.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education: Entry level degree in Occupational Therapy.

License/Certifications: Maine State licensure; BLS certification required.

Experience: N/A.

Participate in promoting education within the department

Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.

Experience: One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.

Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.

Successful completion of an Occupational Therapist education program

Under the direction of the occupational therapist (OT), provide patients, in their homes, which have been delegated by the Occupational Therapist.

Develops knowledge of pedagogy, academic discipline, and as appropriate, clinical profession including scholarship activities.

Teaches and facilitate student learning; teaching activities may occur online or face-to-face in a classroom, clinical, lab, or fieldwork setting.

Contributes to the improvement of the College community through service to the College and broader community.

Current certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant, or eligibility and evidence of application for certification.

Demonstrate ability to manage general full-time caseload in all related settings.

Assists the Occupational Therapist in conducting procedures and programs.

Performs routine treatment procedures in accordance with the established plan of care.

Observes, records, and reports to his/her supervising therapist the conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned duties.

Participates in clinical team meetings.

Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Prepare and maintain work area, materials, and equipment, and maintain inventory of treatment and educational supplies

Assist with applying occupational therapy treatment plan as developed and instructed by the Occupational Therapist.

Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) may be required in certain departments.
