Successful completion of on-the-job training program or one to two years experience as Junior Biomedical Equipment Technician.

Participates in job-related seminars, service schools and AAMI meetings; provides inservice and cross training to other biomedical staff; documents training.

Assesses safety control implications; takes appropriate action; performs follow-up on action to ensure closure.

Performs nitrous oxide scanning as appropriate.

Familiarity with or experience in the field of laboratory, medical equipment planning, material management, hospital buyer, healthcare planning, or biomedical engineering.

Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience.

Exceptional verbal and written communication and organizational skills with the ability to multitask.

Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Knowledge of the latest planning and design software including, Revit, Attainia, AutoCad and Bluebeam.

Willingness and desire to gain in-depth knowledge of medical equipment planning

Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Vendor Management area OR

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Vendor Management area AND

Adheres to the Global Claims Policy in the development and management of vendor agreements.

Tracks and reports metrics to ensure performance against the agreed service levels. Manages Claims vendor performance issues in area of responsibility.

Experience managing external business relationships and performance

Experience managing projects or teams

Database Management; knowledge of Salesforce preferred

Management of the territory’s Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Loan program with activities including:

Remotely manage DME inventories at different locations and on-site inventory at NuMotion with CS staff

Actively develop knowledge of Territory programs and services for people with ALS and their families

Preferred: 2-3 years experience with durable medical equipment

Identify and process Durable Medical Equipment for individuals that are requested through our loan program

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

One year experience in health care environment preferably in home health or Durable Medical Equipment (DME) preferred.

Continuously supports and models the NCH Zero Hero program.

Works closely with NCHH Purchaser to ensure proper placement of orders.

Maintains a positive, competitive, professional, and ethical relationship with all vendor representatives.

Able to work independently within a retail sales environment.

Verifies patient insurance eligibility and benefits and communicates financial responsibilities to patients, caregivers, and other health care providers.

Obtains and interprets medical documentation, compares documentation with insurance coverage criteria, and creates orders to provide medical equipment and supplies.

Communicates with patients, employees, caregivers, and other health care providers on status of orders.

Collects payments from patients for coinsurance, copays, and self-pay items.

Obtains written orders and prior authorization for appropriate equipment/supplies.

Ensures compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and Accreditation Standards.

Performs equipment inventory to verify quantities on hand in the department and on the units.

Delivers clean equipment and picks up dirty equipment as needed and as directed.

Orders patient specific rental equipment (i.e. wound vacs).

Assists in various projects involving the department.

Meets minimum department productivity standards.

Understands customer needs and expectations and performs appropriate customer service.

Required Education, Certifications and Experience

Prior work experience with DME and/or hospital operations and knowledgeable of medical categories.

Can direct the negotiations of major contracts under the supervision of their manager.

Can successfully manage Plan workgroup meetings and support advisory groups, if needed, for their practice area.

Bachelor’s degree in any of the business disciplines (e.g. Finance, Economics), scientific areas (e.g. biology, chemistry, pre-med) or liberal studies

Ensuring departmental compliance with quality managements system and ISO requirements.

Make clinical judgment decisions based on clinical experience when applicable.

At least four (4) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.

Performs first and second level of Medical Review in determination of claims payment review

Conducts in-depth claims analysis utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS Level II coding principles

Utilize electronic health information imaging and input medical review decisions by electronic database module.

Performs and understands testing requirements for all rental/capital equipment.

Monitors leased rental equipment for returning to lessor to perform maintenance requirements.

Assists with customer service and provides delivery assistance when necessary.

Monitors rental equipment in "patient ready areas" and tags additional rental equipment when necessary.

Performs monthly vehicle inspections for the Urbana branch.

Processes rental/capital equipment through dirty, cleaning, testing, and storage areas.

Operating under the required knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements, while adhering to established training, quality, and safety requirements.

Interfacing with end-users, department managers and supervisors on routine issues.

Knowledge of computers and networking.

Experience with biomedical equipment in healthcare settings preferred.

Strong organizational skills, self-disciplined and the ability to work independently.

Ability to adapt to changing work requirements in a complex, fast paced environment.

Knowledge of practice management, word processing software and EMR applications (Greenway preferred)

Investigate customer/sales force complaints and assure complaints are investigated accurately and closed in a reasonable amount of time.

Processes paperwork on a timely basis with verification of insurance benefits.

Completes data entry, filing, and document scanning for each order.

0 – 3 months customer service experience

Min Field of Expertise: Durable medical equipment (DME) experience preferred

Req Courses/Training: Completes annual mandatory education. Completes competency training annually on appropriate equipment. Attends product in-services and training sessions

Is responsible for opening and closing of the store including locking doors and setting the alarm.

Enforces all DOT and FDA regulations as they pertain to Oxygen and DME for the service center they are responsible for

Ensures stock levels are appropriate and cleanliness in warehouse and delivery vehicle is up to highest standards

Ensures that all Medical Equipment Technicians are adhering to company and accreditation standards

Provides patient/client orientation and instructions on the proper use of equipment when applicable

Works with patients/clients to solve a variety of problems, thereby acting as a company field representative

Completes delivery and pickup process through app promptly and accurately
