Consumer Loan Underwriter Jobs

Educate customers on all product offerings including loan options and insurance products

Contacting past due customers to resolve financial problems

Take accountability to manage one’s own workload to ensure superior member experience and meet service level agreements.

Resolve disputes between UNFCU and members using knowledge of loan process and legal requirements.

2 years of experience in a financial institution or lending environment

Bilingual (English/French or English/Spanish) skills are a plus

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Post/Fund loans and disburse funds by verifying figures including processing of deferred fees and costs.

Minimum 5-7 years current underwriting experience

Jumbo/Non-conforming underwriting experience a plus

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting, or equivalent related experience.

Two (2) years of experience.

Generating cash flow projections using key drivers and assumptions

Compare items such as liquidity and profitability with other companies of same industry, size and geographic location for commercial customers

Must possess a valid California state driver’s license.

Underwrite loan applications including credit approval reports, credit analysis results, and loan request summaries.

Communicate with lending, credit, and other management in a logical and positive manner, providing positive and helpful feedback based on

Education: College Degree, preferably a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent

Proficient writing skills to effectively communicate in a clear, concise and persuasive

Minimum of five years of Loan Review/Credit Risk Review or consumer lending experience.

Will participate in Credit Process/Target Reviews of the Consumer and Residential loan portfolios. May be asked to lead less complex Reviews.

Time Management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Five years of loan origination and/or underwriting experience in

One year of mortgage origination, underwriting, or processing experience

Commercial lending (some experience preferred)

Computer skills, (MS Word, Excel, Text Files, Adobe)

Strong written and verbal skills
