Qualifications for Utilities Assistant Water Engineer:

Visit job sites to gain field experience, broaden background, and develop practical engineering skills.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and 5+ years of qualifying engineering experience in the engineering/design field; or

Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, and proficient in Microsoft Office. Proficiency in AutoCAD and hydraulic modeling platforms are desirable but not required.

Plan and design portions of projects of greater complexity, following design, construction and government standards, using design software and drawing tools.

Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, geologic data and other data to plan projects.

Prepares or present reports or analysis such as design calculations, field data results/conclusions and/or cost estimates.

Develop range of technical skills and capabilities to enable back-up support for other environmental roles for air and waste regulations.

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in agricultural sciences, environmental management, or related field from an accredited educational institution

Minimum 3 years directly related experience with job(s) demonstrating experience in working with water development projects or farmland management

Support management in water project development, planning, and implementation.

Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities

Initiate and manage short-term and long-term transfers of water to MIMTA properties.

Assists in designing mechanical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.

Applies basic knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.

3+ years water purification operations experience, including Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems

Advanced knowledge of water purification technologies and system operations

Operational experience in wastewater treatment, domestic water and demineralized water systems a plus

Prior experience in a high purity facility preferred (e.g. semiconductor)

Prepares and makes presentations to City management, superiors, staff, contractors, consultants, and public;

Is knowledgeable of City safety policies, OSHA, and PESH regulations;

Prepares request for proposals, contract plans and technical specifications;

Insures compliance with City Water Bureau standards and mandated public health and environmental standards and regulations;

Prepares plans, layout drawings, specifications, and detail sheets for projects using AutoCAD;

Prepares construction cost estimates, project and construction schedules;

15+ years of direct experience with the planning, design, construction, operation, or maintenance of water infrastructure management across different global regions.

5+ years of experience working knowledge of water chemistry and conventional/membrane water and wastewater treatment technologies

2+ years of experience knowledge of water and wastewater regulations in Virginia.

Knowledge or skills in SQL or data analytics tools such as Tableau

8+ years of project-related experience working with local or state government agencies, utilities, site development due diligence and/or permitting entities.

Up to 25% travel requirements for project due diligence and execution.

Support our Project Managers on monthly invoicing and project financial management. Understand all client-specific invoicing requirements and ensure they are met.

Support our Technical Directors, Senior Engineers and Project Managers on resource management requirements and scheduling.

Experience or desire as assistant project manager; including prioritization of tasks, monitoring schedule and budget, and managing QAQC process

5 years of demonstrated experience

Flexible to work with a variety of project teams locally and across remote offices

Experience with conveyance systems (storm, sanitary, combined) i.e. sewers, green infrastructure, pumping, storage and/or treatment systems is required.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Biological, Agricultural Engineering, Water Resource Management, Hydrology, or similar degree

Familiarity with integrated water resource planning concepts including the comprehensive management of water, wastewater, and stormwater resources

Candidate will work along with a team of senior professionals and should possess effective written and oral communication skills.

Attention to detail and the ability to effectively organize and execute work are essential.

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or comparable engineering or applied science degree

Familiarity with the Water Rights Analysis Package and the Texas Water Availability Models
