Overview of Wastewater Plant Maintenance Wastewater Plant Maintenance is a specialized field of engineering that involves the maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment plants. This job requires a high level of technical knowledge and expertise in order to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant. The primary responsibility of a Wastewater Plant Maintenance Technician is to maintain and repair the equipment and systems used in the treatment of wastewater. This includes pumps, valves, pipes, tanks, and other components. The technician must also be able to troubleshoot and diagnose any problems that may arise. Detailed Job Description of Wastewater Plant Maintenance Wastewater Plant Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment plants. This includes the installation, repair, and maintenance of pumps, valves, pipes, tanks, and other components. The technician must also be able to troubleshoot and diagnose any problems that may arise. They must also be able to inspect and test the equipment and systems to ensure that they are functioning properly. In addition, they must be able to perform preventative maintenance on the equipment and systems to ensure that they are running efficiently and safely. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of wastewater treatment systems and processes
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, pipes, tanks, and other components
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems
• Ability to inspect and test equipment and systems
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance
• Knowledge of safety procedures
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Ability to work independently
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical certification or degree in wastewater treatment
• Previous experience in wastewater treatment plant maintenance
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment systems and processes
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, pipes, tanks, and other components
• Knowledge of safety procedures
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations
