Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days.

3. Current knowledge of pacemakers, ICDs, and related issues as identified.

2. Successful completion of basic arrhythmia course or equivalent coursework

4. Understanding of basic medical terminology.

Certification from in person Cardiac Monitor Technician class with approved course content Preferred or

6 months Experience as Cardiac Monitor Technician within past 3 years

Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test - Must Pass at time of hire (Required if hired after 11/15/2018) Required

Must pass Cardiac Rhythm Recognition Exam on hire and every other year.

Remaining at central monitoring station unless otherwise directed by Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager or designee

Reading multiple telemetry monitors and Reports all cardiac rhythm changes to nursing &/or physician

Troubleshooting alarms and adjust if indicated, with consultation of nursing &/or physician

Documenting cardiac rhythm in EMR

Ensuring all patients ordered for a telemetry monitor are on a monitor frequently.

Appropriately perform phlebotomy and EKG’s as needed

Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and communicate as needed with bedside staff

Basic Job Function and Responsibilities

13-week assignments at premium rate of $35/hr for up to 72 hours per pay period.

Checks and restocks patient care areas and unit supplies per unit policy.

Maintains a clean and neat environment in the patient care area.

Performs basic treatments, such as passive range of motion, simple dressing changes, and skin care.

Notifies Biomedical Dept., Management, SAM RN, and other personnel of equipment malfunction, need for repair in a timely manner.

Develops own knowledge via practice, observation, and attending continuing education programs when available. Performs annual rhythm strip interpretation competency.

Specific Certification, and Nursing Councils. Performs job duties in accordance with these standards.

Demonstrates verbal and writing skills that are appropriate for healthcare communication.

1+ years ExperienceCCH Dysrhythmia Course and MST OrientationComplete annual competency assessment for cardiac rhythm interpretation

Cardiac Monitoring and Rhythm Analysis:

Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.

Previous monitor observer experience preferred.

Obtain, compile, prepare and maintain records for the nursing unit assigned.

Observe cardiac rhythm of patients on monitor.

Run and post rhythm stripes at designated intervals.

Interpret rhythms and validate computer readout.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Certification: BLS within 90 days of hire (from the American Heart Association).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Training: Candidate must be able to attend a 6 week training orientation upon hire.
