Experience implementing effective classroom management strategies, including healing centered facilitation.

4 years of equivalent relevant work experience preferred, in the areas of Education and/or the Arts, or Bachelor’s degree.

Strong organizational and administrative skills.

Strong sense of community and knowledge of NYC culture.

Learn the GBH Empowerment Curriculum & Leadership as Ensemble framework, and plan lessons to serve the goals of the curriculum.

Utilize background (performing arts, visual arts, writing) to create adaptable lesson plans and special projects/activities for participants.

College degree in the Arts or Education, or Equivalent Experience

Lead experiences that drive student growth in creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking.

Support learners to make meaning of their experiences through routine thoughtful reflection.

Acknowledge, participate, respond to, and celebrate the culture of the communities that we serve.

2 years of experience working with the NYC DOE (or other major city) school system

Experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in the arts

Assists in classroom behavior management.

Assume teacher responsibilities in the absence of the classroom teacher or as assigned.Job Qualifications Required Qualifications:NYS Certified Teaching Assistant

Maintains working knowledge and ability to implement classroom and school wide safety plans.

Supporting students across the curriculum.

Works with individual students as directed by teacher.

Assists the teacher with marking and correcting work.

Strong analytical skills, especially valuation and financial modeling expertise

No prior teaching experience required

All training will be done virtually and in person in New York City. There will be no travel requirements.

Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, especially with constructing financial models

Must hold or be pursuing a degree in an arts or education-related field, or possess equivalent practical experience

Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of current educational trends in curriculum and instruction

Design and deliver curricula for Arts classes leading to the practice and deeper knowledge of Cosmetology and fashion

A genuine enthusiasm for developing professional skills through training opportunities, observation, coaching, and feedback

Comply with School Age Child Care (SACC) requirements including background check and medical clearances.

At least one year experience working with children and young teens in afterschool settings highly preferred

Effective time management and organizational skills

Understands classroom management as successful student engagement and has experience

Experience designing innovative lesson plans that align curricula with educational standards

Experience meeting programming and administrative deadlines

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact authentically with diverse populations

Implementing effective strategies, experience with Social-Emotional Learning practices a plus

Builds long-term associations with artists and offers programs for their growth and ongoing development;

Promotes access for diverse audiences by offering reduced-priced tickets;

Provides rich arts-in-education programs, including teacher training and the largest in-depth program to introduce Shakespeare in NYC public schools;

4+ years’ experience teaching in a K-12 setting (in- or out-of-school-time)

Experience teaching Shakespeare (or other classic drama) and/or playwriting

Experience partnering with K-12 teachers to deliver in-class arts instruction
