Tanf Youth Advocate Jobs

High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Human Services, Non-Profit Management or related field experience preferred.

Meets with team weekly to discuss youth engagement and case management services

Meets with Manager/Coordinator weekly to discuss the youth in case management service

Ensures that youth who are off track in school receive the support necessary to improve and maintain academic requirements

Models appropriate communication skills and tools matched to the needs of various audiences and purposes

Experience working with inner-city youth in a human service setting, social service setting, or related field.

Be an adept communicator at all levels, recognize issues and situations that could require notification and communications to others.

High School Diploma or GED

Valid NYS driver’s license (for at least 6 months) and meet agency insurance standards

3 years of experience as a professional working with families and children in an educational or social service setting

Knowledge of federal legislation related to homelessness and special education, Ohio Department of Education regulations, and the local shelter system

Inform parents/guardians educational and related opportunities available to their children, including, but not limited to transportation services

Provide guidance to schools, agencies, and the community on issues pertaining to the ESSA provisions and Ohio Department of Education regulations

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work or related field

Considerable knowledge of working in a school environment; preferably in an urban setting

Associates of Arts degree and 2 years of case management experience

Assist and/or coordinate with participants and youth in gaining access and assistance to post-secondary education, vocational training or certification programs;

A minimum of 1 year of experience facilitating trainings, educational activities and classes

Prepare reports as requested by the TANF Program Manager and Social Services Director;

1 year with direct experience, or working with the Native American Community.

Demonstrates the ability to teach communication and negotiation skills, link and refer the families with needed community resources and supports.
