Group Insurance Underwriting Trainee (Remote)

This is an entry level/ remote position.

Develop in depth knowledge for all products handled within specific Underwriting Assistant Team

BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar program. Minor in Marketing or Communication Studies a plus.

Must possess excellent communication and analysis skills.

Instructor-led training, testing, self-study courses, web-based training and practical application with guidance through a formal mentoring program.

Recommends risks after complete analysis and consideration of applicant documentation, business factors and competitive situations.

Assist territory underwriter(s) in answering phone calls, emails, and assisting with contract bond processing.

Maintain underwriting files, including requesting necessary file updates.

Working with territory underwriter, assist in analyzing new contract account submissions.

Expertise – knowledge and skill

Communicate with the Business Operations Manager and Business Engagement team members to ensure excellent customer service is maintained

Bachelor’s degree preferred; comparable work experience can be substituted

Ability to manage multiple work projects simultaneously

Basic knowledge of insurance principles and practices preferred (previous experience or coursework is a plus but not required)

Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Learning underwriting guidelines and policies: You'll familiarize yourself with the company's underwriting guidelines and the criteria used to assess risk.

Analyzing insurance applications: You'll review insurance applications submitted by clients, verifying information, and evaluating potential risks.
