Standardized Patient Actor For Simulations Jobs

Observe and accurately document student performance on skills checklists and rating scales.

Provide debriefing and / or direct teaching to students regarding interpersonal communication and physical examination skills.

At least one year of experience as an SP is preferred.

Physical Requirements And/or Unusual Work Hours

Portray medical / mental health patients in an accurate, standardized way.

SP’s are required to dress as patients (i.e. in hospital gowns, etc.) as appropriate to their role.

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or higher education preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Prior experience as a Standardized Patient or in a related role is an advantage.

This is a contract-based position with a requirement for 50 SPs per year, divided among ten (10) course iterations.

Encounter Quantity: Conduct 15 simulated encounters per course iteration, maintaining consistency and realism throughout each interaction.

Course Iterations: Participate in ten (10) course iterations per year, providing a total of 50 SPs across all iterations.

Participate in medical education training by acting out medical stories

Must have a solid internet connection and computer skills

Memorize and be able to recite a medical script

Portray emotions as related to script, examples include: pain and irritation

Communicate with medical students about how it felt to be their patient

Complete checklists on student performances

Be willing to be videotaped for educational purposes

Becoming a SP requires good memory, excellent listening skills, and concentration. SPs should:

Be 18 years of age or older

Must be a High School Graduate

Be comfortable with their health and dealing with health professionals

Be reliable and punctual to scheduled events

Experience working with diverse individuals and communities. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist, or Project Management Professional certification.

Time management, organizational, and prioritization skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in a health, project management, or communications-related field.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Access to a green screen studio or teleprompter experience is a plus, but we can also loan equipment to you

You have the ability to get on the level of kids of varying ages to make learning fun and engaging.

You're able to set up and take down lighting and video equipment as needed to film in your home.

Provides educationally constructive verbal feedback within a structured format, as appropriate to the position.

Ability to be flexible in different medical and educational settings.

Experience working in a variety of theatrical and multimedia settings preferred.
