Special Education Program Manager Jobs in Washington

Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.

Participates in department staff meetings; provides information regarding students.

May use specialized adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, wedges, standers, side-layers, etc.; assists in adapting and maintaining equipment for student use.

Addresses concerns with appropriate teaching staff and/or therapy staff and/or building administrators as appropriate.

May perform cleansing intermittent catheterizations after receiving required training.

Provides general clerical assistance in the classroom; duplicates materials and completes necessary paperwork.

Collaborating with other school leaders to facilitate professional development training in special education for staff members

Bachelor’s degree in education or subject field (required)

Certification in District of Columbia/another reciprocal jurisdiction or provisional

Experience working with incarcerated or opportunity youth (preferred)

Working closely with parents, school professionals, and outside service providers where necessary

Monitoring the student’s progress, attendance, and other factors affecting the student’s academic success throughout the year

One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred

Successful experience as part of an educational team preferred

Experience working with children with moderate to severe disabilities preferred

Ability to successfully implement educational programs and manage student behavior with direction from the teacher

Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements

De-escalate students having an emotional/behavioral crisis. Carry out behavior management plans for individual students as appropriate.

One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred

Successful experience as part of an educational team preferred

Experience working with children with moderate to severe disabilities preferred
