Seasonal Softball Umpire Jobs in Maine

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Confer with coaches, players and facility managers to provide information, coordinate activities and discuss issues.

Must attend a City of Racine three-day umpire school & successfully complete a skills test.

Previous experience as an umpire preferred.

Officiate at softball games to maintain standards of play and ensure game rules are observed.

Judge performance in order to award points, impose penalties or determine results.

Have excellent communication skills and decision-making skills.

Observe actions of players, regulate play, ensure guidelines, rules and sportsmanship are enforced.

Resolve conflict among players, spectators, and others in stressful situations.

Officials may confer with other officials or department staff to coordinate actions and discuss problems.

Document game and/or incident reports.

Inspect sports equipment and/or players to ensure safety and compliance with rules.
