To be a Meat Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market you must:

Be dependable and reliable and perform other related duties as assigned.

Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).

Cleaning, preparing fish, and discarding inedible parts.

Cutting and weighing fillets and portions for individual servings.

Receiving, inspecting and storing seafood upon delivery.

Recording quantity of seafood received and issued.

Responsible for performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately and with honesty and integrity.

Requires working knowledge of all job duties within the Butcher Block including cutting, wrapping, steaming and customer service.

Requires knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices.

Must have knowledge of product variety, standards, perishability, food safety, sanitation, labeling and department policies and procedures.

Prepares seafood salads and other seasoned or prepared product. Cooks samples. Steams clams and lobsters.

Supervises the day to day functions of the butcher block to achieve customer service, and sales and profit objectives.

No prior experience or training.

Cleans, scraps, trims and fillets product.

Opens and removes raw materials and places on belts.

Discards cull (inferior or defective) items and foreign matter.

Packs product in boxes, barrels, baskets, cans, totes or crates for storage or shipment.

Operates machine(s) to move live or packed seafood from place to place.

Authorized to work in the U.S.

Perform physical, standing work for up to 12 hours per day, seven days per week.

Process, touch, and be in close proximity of seafood products.

Work in cold, wet, loud plants with strong seafood odors.

Work safely around moving machinery, forklifts, vehicles, and elevated walkways.

Use hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders repetitively.

Maintain a working knowledge of the menu, vendors, and products in the department

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED - WE WILL TRAIN YOU

Experience in meat department or restaurant a plus

Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently

Help customers make product selections by answering questions about department product and/or selection

Help ensure sufficient stock, attractive, accurate point-of-sale signage and eye-catching product displays in meat, fish, and poultry cases

Experience: 10+ years of relevant food industry and management experience

Procurement team, purchasing team, category management team and key members of the Fish and Seafood industry

Strategic management of procurement and development of new suppliers and products;

Education: Bachelor's degree, degree in Culinary Arts, or equivalent experience

Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong focus

Minimum 1 year of experience as a seafood cutter.

Monitor the quality and freshness of products and ensure proper receiving processes.

Store products in designated freezers, or other storage areas, as per protocol.

Ensure proper rotation of products to ensure constant freshness.

Prepare fish and other sea products by cutting, cubing, and shelling them.

Clean and wash seafood products according to designated safety guidelines.

Communicates shrink issues to management.

Communicates guest requests/concerns to management.

Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

Provides polite, friendly greetings and interactions with all guests as they approach the department. Creates a selling environment using selling skills.

Should possess good interpersonal skills, effective selling skills, and have an outgoing personality.

Prepares knife-ready products for sale (slice, trim, wrap, weigh, and price) according to Lowes Foods standards.
