Perform design of experiments (DOE) to define optimal culture conditions for hPSC and to differentiate cells to specified clinically applicable cells.

Provide high-quality hPSC-derived cells to other scientists working on analytical assay development, and quality control.

Help develop methodologies to scale cell expansion to support technology transfer to manufacturing.

Collaborate with colleagues in analytical development to establish critical process parameters for critical quality attributes of the cell product(s).

Support technology transfer and generation of data for regulatory fillings

Knowledge of GMP and quality management systems

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects

Experience with pluripotent stem cell culture

Experience with genome editing techniques

Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to write technical reports and protocols

Prior experience in GMP cell manufacturing environment

Perform assay optimization, qualification, validation, and cellular PK/PD studies in disease-relevant cells

Good understanding of on-target/off-target analysis of CRISPR editing and experience with NGS library preparation

Design and production of cell engineering tools such as DNA constructs, gRNAs (CRISPR), and lentiviruses, etc.

Management of laboratory robotic equipment

Extensive hands-on experience with large scale tissue culture

Minimum of 3-5 years experience in running microscopy-based studies

Experience in advanced image analysis ( i.e. ImageJ, Zen Blue, Columbus)

Experience with HCS and HTS assay development (biochemical/ cell-based) required

Ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced research institute environment ; respect project confidentiality

• Manage and mentor research associates and scientists

• Prior experience managing reports directly as well as in a matrix environment

Director, Stem Cell Gene Editing

Interested in learning new techniques and approaches. Attention to detail, time management and organization skills are critical.

Utilize data management software such as Excel, Prism, Geneious/SnapGene and computational analysis of genomic data using custom Python scripts.

Prior experience with RT-qPCR and other basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques.

Experience with Illumina or PacBio library preparation for next generation sequencing.

Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Develop and optimize protocols for next generation sequencing, including the use of liquid handling robots and automation to facilitate library preparation.

Present data to management, cross-functional project teams, and external partners

6+ years of relevant CNS research post-PhD experience in an industry or academic setting

Experience with small molecule, gene therapy or nucleic acid therapy modalities for CNS diseases

Deep knowledge of genetic and pathophysiology of CNS diseases and relevant in vitro and animal models of diseases

Experience with advanced primary in vitro cell culture, e.g., iPSCs, Neuron Progenitor Cells (NPCs), iPSC-d Motor neurons (iMN)

Experience with transfection methods of relevant cell types (Lipofection, nucleofection, AAV transduction)

Analyzes and communicates experimental results to colleagues and management demonstrating effective written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge and experience with neuromuscular disease models, gene therapy vectors, and next generation sequencing is desirable.

Knowledge and experience with in-vitro CRISPR/Cas9 screening or other gene editing platforms is a plus.

Knowledge and hands-on expertise with recombinant DNA, molecular and cellular biology techniques is strongly preferred.

Technically proficient with strong critical thinking, research and analytical skills.

Develop molecular assays to enable drug candidate identification and characterization.

Organized and able to efficiently manage your time and workflow, including skillfully prioritizing both long-term projects and day-to-day responsibilities

Track record of challenging oneself to enhance scientific skills and knowledge

Effective oral and written communication skills, particularly when collaborating with other teams with limited knowledge of your area of expertise

PhD or equivalent experience in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline

Experience with DNA, RNA, and protein analytics

Experience with aseptic cell culture techniques, including cell transfections

Help the team remain current on cutting edge literature and help manage external collaborations

PhD in molecular, cell biology, or a related biological life science or equivalent combination of degree and experience

Experience with Cas9/CRISPR and/or related genome editing methods

Experience with mammalian cell culture with a preference for stem cells

Experience with virus packaging and delivery
