Overview Revenue Agents are responsible for collecting taxes from individuals and businesses. They are employed by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other government agencies. They are responsible for ensuring that taxpayers comply with the tax laws and regulations. They may also investigate cases of suspected tax fraud and evasion. Detailed Job Description Revenue Agents are responsible for conducting audits and investigations of taxpayers to ensure compliance with the tax laws and regulations. They review financial records, such as income statements, balance sheets, and tax returns, to determine the accuracy of the information reported. They also interview taxpayers and other individuals to obtain information relevant to the audit. Revenue Agents may also be responsible for collecting delinquent taxes and preparing reports on their findings.
