Hiring Range: $40.00 to $43.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Town of Purcellville, Virginia

Pay: $40.00 - $43.00 per hour

Proven, effective communication skills and ability to work remotely and with limited supervision.

Demonstrated skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to –

Read and interpret site/plot plans and specifications and enforce local ordinances as required.

Review zoning applications, conduct inspections as necessary for zoning applications, act on zoning applications and issue zoning permits.

Review and process municipal and zoning hearing applications and attend meetings as needed.

Attends training, meetings, seminars and/or workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills; and

Three (3) years of relevant prior experience;

Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe.

Knowledge of basic zoning, planning, surveying, real estate, and development terminology;

Knowledge of addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and/or calculating ratios, rates and percent;

Ability to perform semi-skilled work involving set procedures and rules but with frequent problems;

Conduct research and communicate findings with applicants, citizens, staff and management.

Code and Zoning Specialist Essential Qualifications and Functions:

Ability to perform code and zoning analysis and prepare comprehensive, detailed & professional communications

Proven, effective communication skills and ability to work remotely and with limited supervision.

Demonstrated skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to –

Professional certification related to Planning and/or Zoning.

Master’s degree in planning, urban design, landscape architecture, architecture, or related field.

Two years in a supervisory role.

· Experience working in the field; experience reading site plans and engineering drawings

· Must have a valid NC Driver’s License

· Possession of CZO (Certified Zoning Official) preferred

$2,000.00 sign-on bonus to be paid as a lump sum after completion of 90 days.

2 years’ experience with SQCDM manufacturing and supply chain operations -OR-

6 years’ experience if no degree

6 years’ experience in lieu of degree

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Must have four (4) years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Must have the ability to quickly acquire and appropriately apply knowledge of department regulations and policies.

Must have a working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing and some knowledge of accounts receivable practices.

Must demonstrate skill in operating the listed tools and equipment.

Must be proficient in customer service skills.
