Pharmacy Technician Or Pharmacy Clerk Jobs in Minnesota

National certification preferred but not required

High school diploma or GED certificate

Successful completion of a pharmacy technician training course and state licensing, as required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

One (1) year of full-time work experience in a hospital as a Pharmacy Technician

Must hold active certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR

Bilingual skills in English and Spanish

Knowledge and familiarity with hospital and pharmacy policies, procedures and techniques

Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient related materials in compliance with HIPAA requirements

National Pharmacy Technician certification within 12 months of hire.

High School diploma or equivalent.

No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.

Current registration with the Board of Pharmacy where required by state regulation.

Fills individual customer medication orders working from a medication fill list; acknowledges filling of order by initialing work done.

One-year hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills.

Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact with customers, families, guests, and all levels of team members.

Able to maintain flexibility in new or changing work roles and the modification of job responsibilities as required.

Providing excellent customer service to customers by building loyalty and repeat business.

Champions Thrifty White programs to patients such as Ready Refill, Medication Synchronization and HealthyPackRx and assists with enrolling patients.

Receives, unpacks and checks merchandise to verify all merchandise is received and in acceptable condition. Stocks, cleans and sorts pharmacy product.

Able to learn and implement new and changing technologies on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities may include health aids department maintenance.

Able to maintain flexibility in new or changing work roles and the modification of job responsibilities as required.

Providing excellent customer service to customers by building loyalty and repeat business.

Communicates selected prior authorization criteria, pharmacy benefit coverage and formulary alternatives to physicians, physician`s office staff, medical management staff and/or pharmacists.

Determines appropriateness for medications. Communicates decision to physicians, physician`s office staff, medical management staff and/or pharmacists.

For CPTs assigned to work the fax queue, responsibilities will also include:

Must have an active pharmacy technician licensure or registration in accordance with state requirements.

In states that do not require licensure or registration, must have an active national certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT).

Active Pharmacist license supersedes requirement for CPT and/or PTCB.
