Overview A Parent Mentor is a professional who works with parents and families to provide guidance, support, and resources to help them better understand and support their children. Parent Mentors are typically employed by schools, community organizations, or other social service agencies. They work with parents to help them develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively support their children's academic, social, and emotional development. Detailed Job Description A Parent Mentor is responsible for providing guidance and support to parents and families in order to help them better understand and support their children. This includes providing resources and information to help parents understand their children's needs, develop effective parenting strategies, and access community resources. Parent Mentors also work with schools and other organizations to ensure that parents are informed about their children's educational progress and are involved in their children's education. Parent Mentors may also provide individual and group counseling to parents and families, as well as facilitate parent-teacher conferences and other meetings. They may also provide workshops and seminars on parenting topics, such as discipline, communication, and child development. Skills Required• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related field
• Previous experience working with parents and families
• Knowledge of community resources and services
• Certification in parenting education or counseling

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to parenting and family services
