Overview of Optometry Optometry is a healthcare profession that focuses on the examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures. Optometrists are primary healthcare providers who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of vision problems and eye diseases. Detailed Job Description of Optometry Optometrists are responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including vision testing, prescribing and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, diagnosing and treating eye diseases, and providing pre- and post-operative care for eye surgery patients. They also provide counseling on vision care and vision correction options, and may refer patients to other healthcare professionals for further treatment. Optometry Job Skills Required

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school
