Attentive to details; reviews prescriptions and/or patient information carefully; identifies special needs; consults with Optometrists, Optician or Practice Manager when necessary.

Adheres to attendance and daily time keeping requirements.

Performs other functions as assigned by Practice Manager or business needs.

1+ year of strong customer service skills (internal/external)

Previous experience in customer service, retail and/or optical

Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.

Responsible for completing department training program and all necessary educational requirements to perform job responsibilities

Interpret a doctor’s prescription and suggest products and enhancements to address specific prescription requirements

Previous customer service or optometric tech experience preferred.

Computer and/or electronic medical records knowledge preferred.

Retail and/or hospitality and/or customer service experience preferred.

Previous retail/optical experience preferred, but not required.

Ability to learn optical knowledge.

Ensure high quality patient care.

Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of doctor’s office and pretest room.

Understand ocular terminology and diseases and know the ocular abbreviations.

Explain the testing process to patients, prepare them, and administer tests on visual capabilities.

Optometric technician certification – a plus

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Experience working with military - preferred

Assist with patient care and eye examinations.

Educate patients on the care and maintenance of lenses.

Answers general questions pertaining to optometry.

Performs preliminary vision screening on all patients.

Dispenses and educates patients on glasses and contact lens wear.

Schedules patients appointments and external referrals

Makes all external referral and proper documents.

Fills all orders for spectacles and contact lens orders.
